University of Birmingham
The Azaylia Foundation is pleased to announce a donation of £120k to the University of Birmingham, to fund the purchase of a Cell Sorter machine – a crucial piece of laboratory equipment. This machine uses a combination of 3 lasers and special fluorescent dyes to recognise different types of cells – such as immune cells and cancer cells from the blood and tumour samples that get donated to their laboratory for research and as part of clinical trials of new treatments.
The machine will allow more patient samples to be processed and enables doctors to provide detailed studies of how cancer cells respond to different treatments, as well as helping them in the design and production of exciting new potential immune therapies, such as CAR-T cells.
